The people who took part in the protest eventually came out of hiding and signed confessions that they took part in the rebellion. Most of the men were charged with some type of eviction, but most were pardoned. A few men were hanged such as John Bly. Shays was pardoned, and eventually moved to New York. Shays' Rebellion made the government think about making a stronger federal government, which they did not have due to the Articles of Confederation.
