shays rebellion
Shays' rebellion was an armed uprising that took place in Massachusetts. It started on August 29, 1786 after the Revolutionary War. After coming home from the war, veterans had trouble paying off debts, because they were not paid or were paid very little during the war. Daniel Shays was among these men(he had been in the Revolutionary War) when he got back home he could not pay off his taxes, so went to court. He notice that he was not alone and many other men could not pay off taxes, so on August 29 he took part in a protest in Northampton. It successfully kept the county from meeting.
